Xinci is the Organics Program Manager for Zero Waste Sonoma, also known as the Sonoma County Waste Management Agency (SCWMA). She is currently helping commercial businesses comply with California’s AB 1828 Mandatory Composting law, involved in negotiations for a new proposed compost facility in Sonoma County, and actively trying to boost food recovery efforts, among other projects.
As a recent transplant to Sonoma County, Xinci previously worked and lived in the Minnesota Twin Cities Metro Area. She has a background in biology, having conducted research in breast cancer, agricultural natural predators, soil nitrification, and evolutionary sexual behavior in crickets. Her love for nature cultivated an interest in helping others find more environmentally friendly ways to live their lives. When Xinci left her lab coat and safety glasses behind, she joined an AmeriCorps program called the MN GreenCorps and has been working in recycling, composting, and waste reduction education ever since.
