Community Bikes

Community Bikes, operated by LITE Initiatives, is a reuse and repair training program founded in 2003. Its mission is to promote bicycles as eco-friendly transportation and teach people of all ages and income levels how to maintain and repair bikes. The shop offers DIY classes, clinics, and low-cost repairs, and accepts donated bikes and parts to restore and sell affordably to the public.
Community Bikes collaborates with groups like the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition and Santa Rosa Cycling Club. Most bikes come from individual donations, but agencies and businesses also contribute, including the City of Santa Rosa, REI, and Sonoma County Transit. The program is funded through sales, donations, and small grants, and has supported organizations like Catholic Charities and local schools with bikes and training.
