Sunny Galbraith

Sunny Galbraith is a science and math teacher at Orchard View School and an activist with 350 Sonoma, where she leads the Zero Waste subcommittee and serves on the Sonoma County Zero Waste Task Force. She collaborates with local environmental and labor groups to advance Zero Waste initiatives. Sunny earned her B.S. in Biology from UC San Diego and teaching credentials from Sonoma State. She founded and runs compost and recycling programs at Apple Blossom and Orchard View Schools, training students to divert waste—over 75,000 pounds to date. She also mentors other schools in setting up similar programs. In summer, she teaches with the Mike Hauser Algebra Academy, guiding students through STEM-based learning. Sunny has 21 years of environmental education experience and was named West Sonoma County Teacher of the Year in 2015.
