Krystal Raynes

Krystal graduated from California State University, Bakersfield with a B.S. in Computer Science with a minor in Political Science. During college, she became involved in higher education issues in Associated Students, Inc. and served as the 2020 – 2022 Student Trustee on the CSU Board of Trustees. Her notable accomplishments include enumerating caste into the CSU’s antidiscrimination policy and divesting the CSU from fossil fuels. From this experience, Krystal decided her calling in life was to help Californians tackle tough issues. Prior to working at CAW, she was a Jesse M. Unruh Assembly Fellow placed in Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin’s office (AD42). There she worked on energy and environmental issues which kickstarted her journey and interest in environmental space. Last year, she worked to pass SB 1053 which closed a loophole for so called reusable thicker plastic grocery bags. As a Legislative Associate she works on issues regarding plastics, toxics, and chemical recycling.
