June Michaels

June Michaels is the founder of SONOMA Food Runners and a lifelong problem-solver, starting with candy schemes in second grade. While working as a concierge for Marriott in San Francisco, she co-founded the Hotels/Nonprofits Collaboration to donate hotel surplus, later expanding it into an award-winning community program. There, she met Mary Risley of Food Runners SF. After moving to Santa Rosa, June helped reroute leftover food from wine country events. Learning that 1 in 6 locals were missing meals—and seeing firsthand the volume of food waste—she launched SONOMA Food Runners. A founding member of the Sonoma County Food Recovery Coalition and member of the Hunger Coalition, June has also led recovery efforts during local wildfires. SONOMA Food Runners connects farmers, donors, recipients, and passionate volunteers working to reduce hunger and waste in the community.
