Patrick Carter

Executive Director, Sonoma County Waste Management Agency
Patrick Carter has a strong desire to reduce waste. A lifelong recycler and a long-time composting advocate, Patrick is the Executive Director of the Sonoma County Waste Management Agency where he helps Sonoma County residents and businesses keep recyclable and compostable material out of the landfill. Patrick was an integral member of the program to ban single use plastic bags in Sonoma County and is working diligently to bring community-scale composting back. A Sonoma County native and Sonoma State University alum, Patrick has deep roots in this community, and is happy to devote his professional life to environmental protection and restoration.
Away from the office, Patrick loves hiking, backpacking, camping, kayaking, running, biking, and splashing in puddles with his wife and two sons.
