Easy Home Composting Workshop (Webinar)
July 27 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The City of Santa Rosa invites you to attend a free virtual home composting workshop.
Did you know that the number one item in our garbage is organic food scraps? Over 21% of what is in the average garbage can is food scraps. Combined yard trimmings and food scraps equal more than 54% of the total waste going to landfills. Diverting this organic material from your garbage bin and instead into either your green organics bin or a backyard composting system is one of the most important activities one can do for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and helping our environment. Using compost saves water, saves money, and conserves natural resources.
Composting is now the law in California (SB 1383) and required by all waste generators in Santa Rosa. Whether you have your own backyard composting system or utilize your curbside green organics bin, composting your yard trimmings and excess food scraps is easy!
The workshop will be led by Todd Sutton, aka “Waste Sleuth.” Mr. Sutton has over 30 years’ experience in the environmental field with emphasis on sustainability and waste prevention. Mr. Sutton is a passionate and charismatic public speaker who has appeared on national television including the Discovery and History channels, and has enlightened and educated thousands on waste prevention, recycling, reuse, and composting.
