Shelley Brown
Shelley was a primary grade teacher for 43 years before retiring in 2016. From the time she was growing up in Sonoma when she collected bugs and frogs and tried to save every tadpole in the local creek, she has loved science. Her interest in reducing waste grows from being the child of a frugal mother who taught her the lessons learned from living through the depression. She and her husband, Alan Siegle, live in a rural community of twelve households in Forestville, where they raised their two daughters and now play with their four grandsons. Retirement offers chances to volunteer in her grandchildren’s school and with Farm Trails in its efforts to create a Zero Waste Gravenstein Apple Fair.
